Structured Cabling and Fibre-Optic Links
VANGARD GROUP installs structured cabling systems — copper and fibre-optic cabling, communications cabinets and LAN infrastructure — as an organised foundation for the site's network, telephony and low-current systems.
Structured cabling (a structured cabling system, or SCS) is the building's physical network. Every workstation, access point, camera and reader depends on it. That is why we prioritise a clear topology, labelling and documentation to make future changes easier.
Fibre-optic links are used between buildings, floors and communications cabinets where long distances or high capacity are required. Copper cabling serves the endpoints.
Communications cabinets are planned with space for active equipment, power supplies and ventilation, with neatly arranged patch leads and cable management.
What is included
- Copper cabling. Horizontal cabling to workstations, access points and devices.
- Fibre-optic links. Fibre-optic backbone routes between cabinets, floors and buildings.
- Communications cabinets. Installation and organisation of cabinets, patch panels and cable management.
- Labelling and documentation. Labelling of cable runs and provision of diagrams within the agreed scope.

FAQ
Questions and answers
- What is the difference between copper and fibre-optic cabling?
- Copper is used for endpoints over shorter distances, while fibre optics are used for high-capacity backbone links over longer distances.
- Do you test the installed cable runs?
- Yes. Cable runs are tested after termination, and the results are provided according to the agreed scope.
- Can you organise an existing communications cabinet?
- Yes. Following a site survey, we propose reorganising the cabinet and labelling the cable runs.
- Do you also supply active network equipment?
- The scope of active equipment is agreed individually for each project.
